War poet Wilfred Owen died one week before Armistice Day.

The student is asked to write a poem from the point of the view of his mother.

Here they have chosen to use iambic pentameter.

A mother’s tale from World War One

Bells ringing, fireworks exploding, cheering,

women crying with joy, children running,

alcohol flowing, flags waving, salutes.

Soldiers carrying their children, smiling.

A telegram came, it must be my son.

Oh no! My…my son died in the battlefield

If only Wilfred survived one more week…

Dear son, oh I miss you so much, goodbye.
